J-Lo and her gal pal Michelle Obama were quick to grab an opportunity for a selfie at a conference in New York City this week.

Jennifer Lopez Instagrammed and tweeted the picture of her and the First Lady to her almost 3.5 million followers. Thousands of likes and retweeted flowed in for the grinning dynamic duo.

"Me and my girl @FLOTUS at #LULAC national convention for the empowerment of Latinos. #represent #dreambig," the "I Luh Ya Papi" singer said.

Michelle Obama was at the League of United Latin American Citizens' 85th National Convention to deliver the keynote address, and as luck would have it, Jennifer Lopez was in the building too. The singer introduced the First Lady to a luncheon before her speech, and the pair managed to squeeze in a bit of quality social media time.

In her address to the 1500-strong crowd, Michelle Obama promoted her "Reach Higher" initiative. The initiative encourages young people to seek further education beyond high school, and use this "higher education as a tool for empowerment," said CBS New York.

Apart from hanging out with Ms. Obama at the convention, which took place at the Hilton Hotel in Midtown, J-Lo was in the house to discuss her new reality show about a high school soccer group called "Los Jets". The series is set in a small southern town "where the players, while facing adversity, train their way towards victory", said E! Online.

Jennifer Lopez's Instagram account, run by the singer herself, features a number of inside peeks at J-Lo's life. From rocking a figure-hugging sequinned dress, to posting inspirational quote pics for her fans (hashtagged with be happy, stay positive, fight for what you want, and love yourself), and recent photos from Paris Fashion Week, J-Lo's keen to keep her followers in the loop.
