Def Jam Celebrates 30th Anniversary With A Concert; Releases Limited Edition Box Set

Def Jam Recordings will celebrate their 30th birhtday with an all-star concert and a limited edition box set.

Five months after the recording label celebrated its 30th anniversary at SXSW, they are holding a concert in Brooklyn, New York, reported Billboard.

Legendary hip-hop label Def Jam will hold a concert at Brooklyn's Barclays Center that will showcase its roster of past and present artists.

Some of the performers that will grace the event are 2 Chaninz, DMX, Jeremih, Fabolous, Rick Ross, Foxy Brown, EPMD, Onyx, Method Man, Jhene Aiko, Ashanti, Ja Rule, Redman, and Warren G.

A report from Rolling Stone said that apart from the concert, the label will also release a limited edition box set that features two collections of music: One with old school tracks curated by co-founder Rick Rubin ("Selections From the Roots of Def Jam") and the other showcasing two volumes of the influential label's best tracks ("Def Jam Recordings' Greatest Hits"). The box set will be available in LP and CD and will include a Def Jam 30 T-shirt.

"It's very exciting to be able to be part of such a special announcement that solidifies and continues forward the enduring mark the brand has made on pop culture," Steve Bartels, CEO of Def Jam Recordings, said in a statement.

Def Jam celebrated its 30th anniversary earlier this year in an event at SXSW, with performances by its acts including YG, Pusha T and 2 Chainz. And the event sponsored by web hosting company Media Temple took place at Stubbs BBQ.

Def Jam's 30th anniversary concert celebration in New York will be held on October 16. The concert will honor the contributions of Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons' label to the rap industry in the US, from LL Cool J, Beastie Boys and Public Enemy to Iggy Azalea, Nas and Kanye West.
