Samsung Galaxy S3 Update: Reports have noted that Android 4.4.2 KitKat have been rolling out to Samsung Galaxy S3 users since early Ma. Sprint, AT&T, and Verizo are the earliest beneficiaries of the update, Gotta Be Mobile reports. But like many new OS updates, the roll out is plaged with some issues. Also, European Samsung Galaxy S3 users is still uncertain of receiving the KitKat update.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Update problems

On Android Fact, some users comments pointed issues that occurred when they updated their S3 handsets to KitKat.

“I updated my phone and now I can not access anything on my disc. I keep getting an message that there is no disc in the phone or that the files are not compatible,” writes Gloria Thompson.

User Vernon Marshall noted the following:

“Have a Samsung Galaxy S3 i535 and couldn’t get the OTA update to work. My phone is rooted. After trying several options decided to do the factory reset, so I saved my files using Kies 3.0 and a USB cable. Tried the firmware update using Kies 3.0 and the USB cable not expecting it to work. It worked flawlessly. The manual software update on the phone still indicated that I needed to do the update which immediately failed. The next attempt indicates the phone is current.

 Now my phone is on the current 4.4.2 and not getting the daily OTA messages that I need to update.

Not sure why the OTA and the Kies 3.0 firmware update aren’t the same, but the Kies worked.”

Another user complained about issues with the phone’s alarm function after the update:

“I can’t stand the new update! I use my phone alarm to remember certain things like appointments but now when I create one it just says ALARM. There’s no way to rename it even if I hit the edit button.”

All these issues maybe bugs and could be caused by other factors like improper installation. This publication strongly suggests that you take precaution when doing any types of update. Back-up your files and make sure you have enougn space to handle the update file.

Spain and France Samsung Galaxy S3 users uncertain of KitKat Update

Though U.S. Samsung Galaxy S3 users are already benefiting from the update, S3 handset owners from Spain and France have yet to have the Android KitKat update.

According to Gotta Be Mobile, Vodafone Spain has yet to receive a word from Samsung on when Android 4.4 KitKat will be available for its S3 users.

SFR carrier in France has also yet to mention anything about a coming 4.4 KitKat update for its own S3 user base.
