Maria Sharapova usually takes the spotlight when she walks into the room, but she had an unfamiliar rival at the US Open 2014. Karlie Kloss, with her boyfriend Josh Kushner, came to see Maria Sharapova’s 1st round match and totally overshadowed the Russian in all departments: beauty and recent business success. Maybe Victoria’s Secret model’s presence was why Maria faltered against what should have been an easy game against Maria Kirilenko.

Karlie Kloss, along with her successful boyfriend Josh Kushner, came to see the Russian’s 1st round match in the US Open. Vogue reported that the Victoria’s Secret model totally aced “the art of daytime date hair and makeup.”

“The model wore a combination of fresh skin, gently sculpted cheekbones, and softly smoked eyes that felt just right on a late-summer afternoon,” the magazine wrote.

Damn, it sounds like the rest of the court (and Josh Kushner) couldn’t take their eyes off of the Victoria’s Secret model. Meanwhile, the Russian tennis player had to fend for herself on the court.

Maria Sharapova seemed shaky in the beginning of the match against Maria Kirilenko, but she quickly recovered her strength and beat her in two sets, 6-4, 6-0.

Karlie Kloss, just like the 27-year-old tennis player, is an ambitious businesswoman. With the help of her money-minded boyfriend Josh Kushner, Karlie started her own collaborations with Warby Parker, Momofuku Milk Bar and Nike.

Last week, the Victoria’s Secret model proved on her Instagram just how successful her projects are.

The 21-year-old model captioned the photo, “I am so proud to announce that #KarliesKookies reached a BIG milestone this week Half-a-million meals have been provided to children around the world through @FeedProjects! Thanks @ChristinaTosi for being the best kookie partner in crime!”

Maria Sharapova also has a number of business projects that generates a big revenue. Supergoop and Sugarpova are just some of examples of how business-minded the Russian beauty is.
