As part of her modeling venture, Kendall Jenner drops her famous last name. Instead of using her last name, the 18-year-old opted to merely go as "Kendall."

As opposed to what some think that the reason she updated her profile was out of embarrassment, the brunette beauty actually made the move as a starting point of her independence.

 "She just wants some independence from her family. Everyone in the business refers to her on a first-name basis, anyway," said the source to Hollywood Life.

The insider similarly added the young Jenner's fascination for model who book jobs using the first-name basis: "Plus, she thinks it's cool! She's always looked up to Twiggy and Giselle, and they're on a first-name basis, too. It's really important to Kendall that she make a name for herself on her own and she feels like dropping her last name helps with that goal."

In her interview with Teen Vogue for its September cover, the former girlfriend of Harry Styles admitted that no one initially wanted to book her as model because she "was sort of known."

 "They were a little bit on the fence about it. Some people might think that what I've done before made it easier for me to get jobs, but it was actually a disadvantage. I had to work even harder," she explained.

Meanwhile, a Hollywood Life insider also reports that the teen model's parents have already reacted to their daughter's decision:  "Bruce isn't upset at all and Kris doesn't care - she's just thrilled at how successful she's become in the modeling industry. She's very proud of her."
