Caroline Wozniacki Owns US Open 2014: Faces Peng Shuai At Semi Final After Vanquishing Sara Errani As Rory McIlroy Fades At Deutsche Bank Championship

US Open 2014 commentators love calling Caroline Wozniacki “Sweet Caroline”. Along with Serena Williams, the Danish tennis player has emerged as the strongest contender for the championship title at this year’s US Open. She vanquished Italian Sara Errani too easily and will face Peng Shuai at the semi final. Will the world number ten plough ahead to rub her success in her ex fiancé Rory McIlroy’s face?

Caroline Wozniacki cruise past Sara Errani in two easy sets, 6-0, 6-1. She immobilized the Italian with her endurance, accuracy and power.

The 24-year-old world number ten will face possibly the biggest surprise of US Open Pen Shuai at the semi final.

The talk of the town is that her break up with the Irish golfer Rory McIlroy has helped her immensely in improving her career. Rory McIlroy has done quite well for himself as well, winning major golf tournaments and climbing the rankings, eventually landing on world number two.

However he faltered at the Deutsche Bank Championship at Boston. His disappointing performance at the final round pushed the golfer away from another championship title. Chris Kirk took home the grand prize.

If Caroline Wozniacki wins the US Open 2014, the golfer may have to rethink what he recently said during PGA interview.

The 25-year-old golfer claimed that breaking up with his former girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki was the best thing he did for his career.

“Well, I think it has happened to me for the better,” McIlroy admitted in the interview, “I’ve put a little bit more time into my golf and refocused me in a way.”

It looks like the break up happened for the better for Caroline too!

If Caroline Wozniacki beats Peng Shuai at the semi finals, she will most likely face her BFF Serena Williams at the US Open finals.
