'The Fappening' Part 2 [Update]: 'Bring It On' Star Gabrielle Union Calls Celebrity Photo Leak A Hate Crime, Contacts FBI

Gabrielle Union is one of the victims of the latest wave of the massive celebrity nude photo leaks known as “The Fappening,” and she has a lot to say about the violation. The actress released a joint statement with husband Dwayne Wade in which they condemned the hacking, called it a hate crime and offered support to other victims. The couple commented that the attack reflects a familiar pattern of victimizing and stripping the autonomy of women, particularly women of color.

Union and Wade released their statement to TMZ after learning that naked selfies taken by the actress had surfaced. The statement begins, “It has come to our attention that our private moments, that were shared and deleted solely between my husband and myself, have been leaked by some vultures.” It continues, “I can’t help but be reminded that since the dawn of time women and children, specifically women of color, have been victimized, and the power over their own bodies taken from them. These atrocities against women and children continue worldwide.”

The statement concludes, “For anyone out there also being affected by these and other hacking and hate crimes – we send our love, support and prayers. We have done nothing wrong.” The Independent reports that Union has said she plans to contact the FBI regarding the hacking and theft.

The actress is one of many celebrities impacted by the current wave of leaks. The list, which has been growing rapidly since photos began surfacing on Saturday, includes Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Hayden Panettiere, Vanessa Hudgens and many others. One Direction’s Liam Payne is the only male celebrity involved so far, as photos have emerged purportedly showing him in bed with another man. The singer denied the authenticity of the pictures.
