Jon Favreau Wants To Open ‘Chef’ Inspired Restaurant, Hopes To Recreate Mouthwatering Cuban Sandwiches From Film

Could Jon Favreau be planning to bring his hit film "Chef" to life?

It appears so. The 47-year-old actor who wrote, produced, directed, and starred in the film recently revealed in an interview with Yahoo Movies that he hopes to open a restaurant in Los Angeles with food inspired by the movie.

"I love sharing the food with people, so that they could see that food really is as good as it looks," Favreau told Yahoo Movies at an event at West Hollywood on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

At the event, the film star hosted a Cuban sandwich cooking demo with co-star Emjay Anthony and celebrity chef Roy Choi, who Favreau would be teaming with for the new restaurant.

"It's not the wisest business venture, but for me it's a way to let the movie live on and connect with the fans," explained Favreau.

"Chef" tells the story of Carl Casper who loses his job at a high-end restaurant and starts a food-truck business that brings together the members of his family who had drifted apart.

The hit summer film not only charmed fans due to its heart-filled story but also because of the mouthwatering delicacies that that the characters prepared.

"When people got out [of screenings], they wanted that thing to be real," said Favreau, referencing the signature Cuban sandwich that his character crafted in his food truck, El Jefe.

At the event, Favreau revealed the recipe to the delectable-looking menu item.

"Three slices of pork, two slices of ham, supermarket Swiss cheese, two pickles, mustard from end-to-end, butter on top and then Lipitor," said the filmmaker. "It's not an everyday meal."

No doubt fans of the film will be waiting anxiously for this L.A. eatery!
