Police are reportedly suspecting Big Bang member Seungri as the cause of a recent car accident the idol was injured in.

Korea's Channel A published an exclusive report on October 7, revealing that police are investigating Seungri as a suspect regarding his September 12 car accident. The Big Bang member was critically injured and received treatment in the intensive care unit, and now police have summoned the idol as a suspect.

Police have viewed the black box footage from the cars involved in the accident, and reported that Seungri was speeding at the time of the accident.

The report revealed that the police found Seungri to have been driving more than twenty kilometers (around ten miles per hour) per hour over the speed limit. The accident, which occurred at Seoul's Banpo Bridge, occurred in an 80km/hour area (roughly 50mph), but Seungri was reportedly driving around 100 and 110kmh (between 62 and 69mph.)

Seungri's car hit a barrier and flipped over, seriously injuring the idol. The accident was seen by police to be an average accident for South Korea, where car accidents occur regularly.

As police have reportedly determined Seungri was speeding, he may be subject to a fine depending on whether or not the other driver involved was injured.

There was no drunk driving involved in the accident.

Because of his injuries, Seungri was unable to perform at the closing ceremony for the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, which South Korea hosted. He had originally left the hospital in order to prepare for the performance, but YG Entertainment, Big Bang's company, released a statement admitting that Seungri had to return to the hospital to receive further treatment.

The four other Big Bang members performed at the Asian Games closing ceremony without Seungri.

Seungri's car accident is one of several high profile accidents involving Korean idols, including the car accident that took the lives of two members of girl group Ladies' Code.
