It was a new height of success for teams Serbia and Spain for this season of 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women in Turkey. They grabbed plenty of victories for the past couple of weeks and their fans have expressed truly great praises for the determined teams.

The defending champs United States and third placer Australia have remained in spots No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, following their dominating displays at Turkey 2014, runners-up Spain overcame five of six games and has leapfrogged the Czech Republic, Russia and France into the third ranking.

Meanwhile, Serbia came after securing the fourth-place at EuroBasket Women 2013 with an eighth spot at the World Championship and has reached 13 places to No. 17.

Competitive teams - France, Brazil and China played well at the World Championship and have maintained their ranking.

Belarus and Cuba stepped in amazingly to the Qualifications for Quarter-Finals at Turkey 2014 and have progressed one spot each to No. 9 and No. 13.

The newbies - Mozambique and Angola made their first ever appearance at the FIBA World Championship for Women.

On the on other hand, Canada, the Czech Republic and Korea have each dropped a spot in the ranking.

The Czechs are No. 6, Canada No. 10 and Korea No. 12.

Among the sides to lose ranking points (because they did not qualify for the FIBA World Championship for Women) was the team Russia who has rolled down two places (No. 5). Countries that have dived because of their non-participation were Nigeria, Lithuania and Chinese Taipei.

The Africans have plummeted 14 places to No. 46 and Lithuania has tumbled 10 spots to No. 35.

The ranking is based within the scope of a two Olympic Games cycle (including qualifying competitions at FIBA Zone level).
