Oscar Pistorius’ Murder Case Affected By Brother Carl’s Data Removal Of ‘Blade Runner’s’ Phone? Paralympian Awaits Sentencing

Oscar Pistorius' murder case could be affected by his brother Carl's decision to wipe out the data from the "Blade Runner's" phone. The paralympian, meanwhile, awaits the sentencing after the court found him guilty of culpable homicide.

According to Australia's news.com, Carl reportedly synchronized his brother's iPhone with his computer days after the paralympian's girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, was shot to death.

Reportedly, Carl erased all the call history and the messages, which would have been vital to the investigation in relation to the Oscar Pistorius' murder case, the Eyewitness News (EWN) said.

Although the police at one point considered filing a case against Carl Pistorius, they "ultimately declined to proceed with a case against him," the EWN said.

The EWN dished out on the Oscar Pistorius murder case based on the book "Behind the Door," by South African journalists Barry Bateman and Mandy Wiener.

"The EWN investigation has further revealed that Pistorius was talking to his ex-girlfriend minutes before he arrived home to Steenkamp on the eve of the Valentine's Day shooting," the publication said.

Accordingly, "The athlete had a nine-minute long conversation with Jenna Edkins, whose number had been saved under the name 'Babyshoes,' just hours before he killed the model at his luxury Pretoria East home."

Meanwhile, the judge in the Oscar Pistorius' murder case has yet to hand down her sentence after finding the paralympian guilty of culpable homicide.

Judge Thokozile Masipa ruled that there was no sufficient proof to hold Oscar Pistorius of premeditated murder.

The judge said there were other ways where he could have dealt with the threat, instead of using a gun.

"All the accused had to do was pick up the phone and ring security, or run to the balcony and call for help," she said.

Culpable homicide, according to the Independent, is the "South African equivalent of manslaughter" and "carries a maximum prison sentence of 15 years."
