Nicholas Brendon Facebook Apology After Comic Con Arrest: 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' Actor Says Painkiller And Alcohol Mix Lead To Destructive Behavior

Nicholas Brendon has broken his silence following his arrest last Friday in Boise, Idaho. The actor and Buffy The Vampire Slayer alum, who had been there to attend the Tree City Comic Con, took to Facebook to apologize for his behavior. He explained that he was on prescription painkillers at the time, and that mixing them with alcohol lead to the events that resulted in him being taken into custody for malicious injury to property and resisting and obstructing officers of the law.

Brendon began his Facebook post by stating, “I apologize. Usually those words end a message like this, but I am beginning with them to emphasize how much I regret disappointing my family, my fans, and myself.” He continued, “I can offer an explanation, but I make no excuse for my unacceptable behavior.”

Brendon went on to explain that he had been taking the medication “to help me manage a cyst behind my kneecap, which is scheduled for corrective surgery on Monday.” He continued, “I made the poor decision to mix this prescribed medication with alcohol. The result was embarrassing and unacceptable.” Saying that he intends “to seek appropriate treatment and therapy for my medical ailments as well as my emotional demons,” Brendon emphasized that, “I appreciate understanding as I pursue rehabilitation – and I valued support as I earn redemption with my family, friend, and fans.”

The incident in question took place at the hotel Brendon was staying in, and began when he reportedly broke a decorative dish, leading hotel staff to call the police. Gossip Cop reported at the time that a police statement said the actor “showed signs of intoxication, and repeatedly refused officers’ commands to stay seated while [they] tried to speak to witnesses.”

Brendon married his girlfriend, Moonda Tee, earlier this month.
