Install Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update On Samsung Galaxy S3; GT-I9300 Units Receive SlimROM Custom Firmware

Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 owners excited for a mobile OS update can now install Android 4.4.4 KitKat update via a new custom ROM!

A new custom firmware based on Google's most recent mobile operating system has been released. This allows the owners of Samsung Galaxy S3, with model number GT-I9300 to install Android 4.4.4 KitKat update on smartphone which was officially released in 2012.

According to the GSM Arena's list of specs for the phone, the latest and official update made available for the Samsung Galaxy S3 is the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. But thanks to custom Android firmware developers who created the SlimROM, it is now possible to install Android 4.4.4 KitKat update on the device.  

According to a report on International Business Times, the SlimROM brings in features such as Privacy Guard, SlimPie, Slim Recent App and a lot more.

But since this is an unofficial firmware, users are advised to be extra careful and punctilious when installing the Android 4.4.4 KitKat SlimROM on Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300. The detailed installation instructions are posted on this IB Times page.

However, before officially starting the installation process, there are some requirements and conditions that should be met first and some of them are posted below:

Make sure that the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 has at least 80 percent battery level before installing Android 4.4.4 KitKat update via the SlimROM.

Install the appropriate USB drivers of the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9100 on the computer so the Android device will easily connect with the PC during the process.

Make a backup of the data and settings stored on the Samsung Galaxy S3 using either ClockWorkMod or TWRP, two of the most highly-recommended custom recovery tools.

Enable USB Debugging mode on the smartphone by navigating to to Settings > Developer Options.
