Cindy Crawford Regrets Not Having More Fun When She Was Young: ‘I Was Very Cautious And Careful’

Cindy Crawford has no qualms about dancing on tables.

But while the famous supermodel is particularly fun-loving now, she recently told Michigan Avenue magazine that she spent her younger days being too "cautious and careful."

"I think young people-and adults-are plagued by our insecurities. [Mine was] worrying that I didn't belong or that I didn't deserve to belong, or whatever," said Crawford, who covers the November issue of the mag.

The 48-year-old, who was named the highest paid model on the planet by Forbes magazine in 1995, shared some advice she would give her younger self if she could.

"The other thing I would tell my young self is to just let loose a bit more and have fun. I was very cautious and careful-which probably helped lead to the career that I had-but there were a few times I could have had a little bit more fun."

Crawford, who described herself as coming from "such a sheltered small town," said she was intimidated by the party scene in New York City when she first moved there to pursue a career in fashion.

"It was easier for me to put my nose in a book and just kind of block it all out. I didn't quite know how to navigate it, so I just chose not to," said the star, who is now a mom of two.

"But looking back, I was like, maybe I should have gone on Armani's boat for a week, or do things that [I didn't do because] I was afraid of feeling out of my league," she added.

Now Crawford takes an annual trip to the South of France with husband Rande Gerber and friends, and she takes the time to have a blast.

"That's my one week a year that I dance on top of a table every day at lunch," said Crawford. "I probably should have done it when I was 20 and things weren't jiggling so much. I could still pull it off at 35 or 40."
