Katey Sagal Talks 'Sons Of Anarchy:' Former 'Married With Children' Star Reveals, 'I Knew I Was Coming To My Demise;' Says She Is 'Extremely Emotional' About The Show's Ending [PHOTO]

For those of you that have been avidly watching "Sons of Anarchy," you now know at least one shocking thing: Katey Sagal's character Gemma is dead. According to People Magazine, Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) gunned down his mother, Gemma, after discovering she was the one who brutally murdered his wife. In a recent interview with People, Sagal revealed how she feels about her character's demise.

When asked whether she was surprised about the outcome, Sagal replied, "As we've seen before, central figures have lost it much earlier than Gemma. We lost Clay in season six, so nobody was really safe. You are never quite sure when you are going to go. I knew I had made it to the seventh season, and then Kurt [Sutter] said it would be toward the end," conveying that she had known her time was running out.

She continued, "I knew I was going to come to my demise about three or four episodes into this season ... Kurt told Charlie [Hunnam] and me at the same time that Gemma was going to die at the hands of her son."

According to ABC News, Sagal had a pretty tough time shooting her last episode. Kurt Hunnam is not only the show's director, but Sagal's husband, and having worked alongside him since 2008 was quite the fun and exciting journey. Sagal stated, "It almost makes me cry talking about it. It was very sweet - those last moments before Charlie and I walked out to the garden, we were just crying and hugging each other, and then we'd roll ... It wasn't only Jax and Gemma's farewell, it was Katey and Charlie's farewell after working together for seven years."

When asked how she and Kurt feel about ending the show altogether, Sagal replied that the two are at peace with the decision. She mused, "Nobody is like, sad. It's been such a great ride and we have no regret. I wouldn't say it ended too soon and I didn't feel like it went too long. It ended at the right time. There's something really great about that."

Be sure to tune in for the last season finale of "Sons of Anarchy," which airs next Tuesday on FX.
