LG G Flex 2 Release Date Anticipated To Be During CES 2015 In January As New Model To Sport A Major Upgrade Over The Original G Flex!

When the LG G Flex debuted, it was speculated that LG already has a second-generation of the offbeat phone on hand. The G Flex, following the Samsung Galaxy Round, was the second device that could bend without any issues.

Strong rumors about the G Flex 2 have been making rounds for quite some time; however, we finally have a release date.

According to Android Authority, the LG G Flex 2 release date is anticipated to be during CES (Consumer Electronics Show) scheduled to take place in Las Vegas from 6 till 9 January, 2015. The first LG G Flex, a mid-range device in terms of specs, debuted in October last year. The primary selling point was the flexible 6-inch device could bend and it featured a self-healing back that could restore scratches and minor damage. By the looks of it, LG G Flex 2 will build on these features, while boasting a more modest size than its 6-inch predecessor.

Display And Design

Android Authority reveals that the LG G Flex 2 should be more flexible in comparison to the first G Flex. The new LG G Flex will be made out of, "a special hard rubber chassis that will reportedly be able to flex up to 90 degrees. While the media doesn't specifically make mention of it, it seems likely that the device will also feature other flexible components such as a flexible battery."

Besides its ability to bend, the original G Flex offers extremely poor display. The device belongs to middle to low class according to specs and display. It is expected that G Flex 2 will be better in this area. If rumors are to be believed, the company will lower the size of the display and improve the resolution. Accordingly, a plastic OLED screen is in the making with a 1080p full HD resolution. The original G Flex offered a large display of 6 inch with poor resolution of 720 x 1280 thus it delivered low crispness and sharpness.

Operating System Speculations

Although nothing is set yet, few reports suggest that LG won't risk with the LG G Flex 2. The company intends to ship the new handset with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and considering the speed that the company is releasing updates of the latest OS version, it is a practical goal.

Self-Healing

One of LG G Flex's unique features was its ability to self-heal. It can bend significantly and then return to its original position easily. LG G Flex 2 is expected to get a significant improvement as far as this feature is concerned. Owing to Flex 2's profound design, the device could bend even more dramatically. LG uses a hard rubber chassis to facilitate the bending. Moreover, the G Flex 2 will continue to be protected with a plastic coating in order to protect the handset from minor scratches.
