K-Beauty Review [+VIDEO]: MISSHA Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Ampoule

Some call it the Korean version of Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair serum but at almost half the price, the Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Ampoule may be a great night treatment option without breaking the bank.

Description: Missha claims the Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Ampoule will make skin smooth and firm and provide extra nutrients and moisture. The Amouple boasts the ability to energize, repair, and restore elasticity as well as anti-wrinkle and whitening benefits. Some remarkable ingredients include Fermented Bifida, Lactobacillus, and Lactococcus. Bifida is supposed to strengthen the skin's barrier to prevent damage the environment, while Lactobacillus contains Peptide and Vitamin B12 to improve the skin barrier.

Packaging: The Night Repair serum comes in a beautiful glass bottle in a rich purple-blue shade with an orange ombre effect at the bottom. The bottle is very sturdy and quite heavy, similar to Missha's First Treatment Essence packaging. However, this bottle is smaller and compact, making it much more portable. The serum comes with a durable dropper, which some of you know is my favorite way of applying product.

Product: The Ampoule is easily accessible with the dropper, though the product is so thick that it doesn't come out in drops. Instead, the product oozes onto your hand but without getting messy or hard to control the amount. The product is very thick and sticky and a surprisingly a dark orange-yellow color, like an IPA. Missha's Night Repair serum doesn't have any remarkable smell.

Application: The directions recommend using the Ampoule twice a day, in the morning and at night. But because my skin is still quite young, I don't want to overdo anti-aging products so I only use this serum at night, and sometimes every other night. I use the serum after my Missha First Treatment Essence and before lotion or cream. I squirt out almost all of the product in the dropper and then gently pat onto my "wrinkle-prone" areas around my eyes, forehead, neck, and around my mouth, then spread the rest of the remaining product until fully absorbed. It's quite sticky so it goes on very easily and sinks in quickly, though my face feels sticky for a while afterwards. Upon first applying, my forehead looks shiny but after a few moments it goes away and my skin feels very moisturized and soft.

Results: On nights when I use this product I feel my skin is much tighter and more taut in the morning, as well as visibly brighter. After using the product for a couple weeks, my skin condition overall is smoother and brighter and my pores have gotten smaller.

Pros & Cons: My favorite thing about this product is how gentle it feels on my face, with no irritation. I have also seen real results over time and I believe my face looks more youthful with consistent use. Though the product looks thick and heavy, it goes on very easily and works hard while I'm sleeping! However, the stickiness of the product might turn some people off. I've heard some complaints from those with oily skin that the serum is too heavy but I have combination skin and actually find this product rather weightless. The color is also a bit odd.

Price & Availability: The Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Ampoule is $79.00 for a 90 ml bottle. If you click here, the product is on sale for only $55.30. Compared to Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair serum, which costs $62.00 for a third of the size (1 fl oz), this is a great option for those that want to save money on a lightweight anti-aging night serum.
