Rising singer Jhameel Kim performed on "American Idol" on Thursday as part of their Nashville and Kansas City Auditions.

Jhameel, a featured featured performer at last summer's KCON festival, attempted to dazzle celebrity judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. with his brand of funky dance music.

Following Jhameel's pre-taped performance, the singer phoned KpopStarz for an exclusive pre-broadcast chat.

"I'm really nervous, just waiting for the show to start. Hanging out with my parents trying to relax and have a good time and tweet with fans," he said.

Jhameel isn't worried about his performance, though.

"I feel solid. I feel like I represented myself and I represented my fans. I didn't compromise and I'm proud of the way it went," the singer said.

KpopStarz asked the rising pop singer what it was like to meet the celebrity judges.

"In person they were so nice and personable that all the nervousness fell away after talking with them for a little bit. And then it just like I was jamming in my own room," he said.

Jhameel was a evasive when we tried to get him to reveal some spoilers about any of the judges' decisions.

"I'm trying not to think about that. Just want to share a great message and share the music that I love," he revealed.

Jhameel is a San Francisco-based singer who made first made "Waves" with the music video for his song "Shut Up."

The cross-cultural artist followed that up by releasing one of a series of five songs every five weeks.

Jhameel's songs also have been featured in ads for Forever 21 and Verizon and can be heard in H&M and American Eagle stores,

The 24-year-old indie electro-pop artist caught up with KpopStarz last summer when he played KCON, the first convention dedicated to "All Things Hallyu." Though Jhameel isn't a K-pop singer, the fans were electrified by his performance. 

"American Idol" airs at 8 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays on FOX.
