Watch The Latest ‘Fafner Exodus’ Anime Trailer Before It Premieres On Crunchyroll [VIDEO]

There's a plethora of new anime titles slated for January, and while there's already been the return of ghouls, magical boys, and land Goddesses, there's also several mecha battles still to come.

The mecha battles in the "Fafner" franchise will thankfully be coming to fans outside of Japan. It was recently announced that Crunchyroll will be streaming "Fafner Exodus" "shortly" after its premiere in Japan. Before the premiere on January 8 however, those looking to preview the anime can watch the latest trailer for the series below.

At the outset of Crunchyroll's announcement that the company would be streaming the series, fans were surprised that Funimation did not choose to license the sequel to "Fafner Dead Aggressor."

"The series I thought for sure was going to Funimation ends up here," said Danceicarus on CR.

"Well d***, I honestly thought this was going to Funimation given the previous seasons of this series being on Hulu and Funimation," explained Rippedyanu1.

"Well that's a surprise," commented Stark700.

According to Anime News Network, fans in North America and other Crunchyroll included areas can expect "Fafner Exodus" to begin following the Japanese airing schedule starting with the second episode on January 16.

The main cast for "Fafner Exodus" includes Makoto Ishii as Kazuki Makabe, Kohei Kiyasu as Soshi Minashiro, Marika Matsumoto as Maya Tomo, Ryotaro Okiayu as Walter Bargest, Yuichi Nakamura as Dustin Morgan, and Aki Unone as Keith Water.

The man staff from "Fafner Dead Aggressor" will return with direction by Kenichi Suzuki and Naokatsu Tsuda, series composition by Yasuko Kobayashi, and character design by Masahiko Komino.

Crunchyroll describes "Fafner Exodus" as follows:

"Tatsumiyajima is the central island in the middle of a small cluster of islands, in a sleepy backwater of the Japanese isles. Not much happens there, and the island's young people go to school knowing that their lives are likely to remain peaceful and undisturbed. Or so they have been taught... but the truth is different.

The fate of mankind is on the line, and Tatsumiyajima is the last line of defense against a hostile and incomprehensible enemy. At the center of it all, fighting for Humanity's continued existence, is the giant robot Fafner, the dragon that guards this final treasure of mankind. Fafner Exodus will be set 2 years after the first attacks of the festums."
