NBA Trade Rumors: Tony Wroten To Los Angeles Clippers? Philadelphia 76ers Continue To Tank And Clips Need Better Bench Players!

The NBA Trade Rumors continue for the Philadelphia 76ers and the LA Clippers. The Clippers are still considered a trade away from being legit contenders while the Sixers continue to look ahead. But what future assets can the Clippers offer?

These two teams already made a minor trade which most observers note is actually a preparatory move by the Clippers. The other Western teams are on a dull arms race so any team lagging will be left behind.

The implications of the move: "Trading Cunningham spares the Clippers a cap hit. If they would've waived him, he would've counted against the cap based on the number of days he had been with the team."

But the main need for the Clippers is a small forward-like Jeff Green or Luol Deng. Wroten will play behind JJ Redick and main sub Jamal Crawford. The interest is quite intriguing as pointed out by NBC Sports:

"The Clippers have adequate backup guards in Jamal Crawford and Jordan Farmar, so Wroten would be more of a luxury. It's tough to see the Clippers, especially with their hard cap, making a deal work. But Rivers has shown a propensity for valuing a deeper bench over future flexibility, so there's a chance to he takes the necessary steps."

There is also no compelling reason for the Sixers: "Wroten is under contract for next season, and he'll be a restricted free agent after that. There's no urgency for the 76ers to trade him, unless they believe he's a poor long-term fit with Michael Carter-Williams and this is the time to sell high. Wroten at least won't interfere with Philadelphia tanking for a high pick this year."

Let's see what Doc Rivers is cooking. The only certainty is that he needs to do something.
