'Hacktivist' Group Anonymous Declares War Against Terrorists, Promises To Avenge Those Killed In Charlie Hebdo Shooting [PHOTO]

The hacker group known as Anonymous has recently come out with a video message describing a new campaign against jihadists, which has been called #OpCharlieHebdo. The message comes in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo shooting in Paris, in which 12 people were murdered.

For those who may not know much about Anonymous, USA Today reports that it is a group of hacker activists that has inserted itself into several conflicts worldwide, including actions in Israel, the USA and, most recently, Paris. In general, the activists believe in freedom and an end to censorship.

Furthermore, there is no one Anonymous group, but instead several individuals and groups who make statements and take action under the broad umbrella of the name.

According to The Mirror, the group's Belgian branch posted the video to YouTube, and claimed that "hacktivists" all around the world will track down jihadist activities online and close down their social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube.

The Telegraph reports that in the clip, a figure wearing the group's symbolic Guy Fawkes mask is seated in front of a desk with the hashtag #OpCharlieHebdo featured on screen. The figure speaks in French, and in an obscured voice, saying, "We will track you down - every last one - and will kill you... You allowed yourselves to kill innocent people, we will therefore avenge their deaths."

The message continues, "You will not impose your sharia law in our democracies, we will not let your stupidity kill our liberties and our freedom of expression. We have warned you; expect your destruction."

It ends in a threatening fashion, the message stating, "We will track you everywhere on the planet, nowhere will you be safe. We are Anonymous. We are legion. We do not forget. We do not forgive. Be afraid of us, Islamic State and Al Qaeda - you will get our vengeance."

Though the message is worded in a violent manner, it is unclear whether or not Anonymous will get any sort of bloody revenge. According to The Huffington Post, photographer Michael Tucci says that he envisions Anonymous as more likely "concentrating efforts to disrupt Islamic extremism's support and communication." He also added, "They have no history of physical violence, only cyber. They shut down internet pages. Their resources can find anyone online, I'm sure."

What do you think of the activists' message?
