Golden Globe Awards 2015 Highlight: George Clooney, Jared Leto, The Simpsons, And Other Stars Show Support For Charlie Hebdo Paris Terror Attack

One heartwarming highlight of the Golden Globe Awards 2015 was the show of support to those who have been killed during the Charlie Hebdo terror attack in Paris.

Newlyweds George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin attended the affair on January 11 and despite donning grandiose outfits, what caught the people's attention was the actor's tuxedo which was embellished with a "Je Sui Charlie" pin. His human rights lawyer wife likewise carried a clutch with the same slogan.

When it was time for him to accept his lifetime achievement award, Clooney said: "Today was an extraordinary day. They were Christians, and Jews and Muslims, they were world leaders, and they weren't marching in protest, but in support of the idea that we will not walk in fear. We won't do it."

The Independent reports that Helen Mirren and Kathy Bates also attended the Golden Globes Awards holding a "Je Sui Charlie" sign. Other celebrities who did the same thing include Alexandre Desplat, Diane Kruger, Patricia Arquette, Joshua Jackson, and William Macy.
Jared Leto was tasked to present the Best Supporting Actress award but before doing so, he similarly addressed the Charlie Hebdo attack: "To our brothers, sisters, friends and families in France, our thoughts, our prayers, our hearts are with you tonight. On vous aime. Je suis Charlie."

While the Simpsons were technically not in the event, the series paid tribute through its episode, "Bart's Best Friend." Before the show's final commercial break, Maggie Simpson was shown holding a flag with the French sign.

When translated, "Je Sui Charlie" simply means "I Am Charlie" which aspires to show solidarity.
