Latest news on Oscar Pistorius alleged that the "Blade Runner" is getting special treatment in prison, as prosecutors pursue fight to challenge the judge's verdict on the Reeva Steenkamp's killing.

According to the report from Eyewitness News, Oscar Pistorius is allegedly not compelled to follow prison schedule compared to the other inmates at the high security prison.

A correctional officer talked to the website on condition of anonymity and "He says management is concerned that because of his high-profile status, if anything does happen to him it could be hugely embarrassing for the department."

"The official says Pistorius does not talk a lot and tends to prefer spending time on his own," Eyewitness News added, in the aftermath of Oscar Pistorius conviction for culpable homicide instead of the murder that the prosecution has sought.

In other news, the National Prosecuting Authority has confirmed that it has lodged a notice to appeal the culpable homicide conviction on Oscar Pistorius.

"South African prosecutors - who want the Paralympian to instead be convicted for murder - revealed it had filed papers to the High Court as the two-year anniversary of Steenkamp's death approaches," said Mirror.

Being convicted for culpable homicide meant Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to five years but he's expected to be out in less than a year, counting good behavior and the amount of time he already served in prison.

The NPA served the notice on the lawyers of Oscar Pistorius on Feb. 6. The documents were filed in the Supreme Court of Appeal as well as the High Court on Feb. 9.

"The NPA will now have to wait for the transcripts of the record of the trial before filing their argument," Eyewitness claimed. "Only then will they be given a date for a possible hearing in Bloemfontein."

Judge Thokozile Masipa allowed the NPA to appeal her verdict on the Oscar Pistorius murder trial in December last year.
