Street Monument To Be Erected In Honor Of The Late Shin Hae Chul

Fans and supporters of the late Shin Hae Chul, who passed away last year due to post-surgery complications, are banding together to push for the construction of a monument and memorial as part of a new Shin Hae Chul Street in dedication to the rock legend.

The plans were revealed by a city hall spokesperson from Seongnam, Seoul where the Shin Hae Chul Street is being planned to be constructed. The singer's workroom is located in Seongnam.

"There have been discussions to build the memorial and monument which will contain analects. This project is not led by the municipality, it is rather only a reflection of the citizens' opinions. The opinions of fans and citizens are very important," the spokesperson told OSEN, according to an English translation report from Koreaboo.

"Songs of the late Shin Hae Chul is released throughout the city, and we are having discussions about erecting a monument recorded with analects as well as a memorial that will showcase relics," the spokesperson added.

There are plans to create the Shin Hae Chul Street starting from the singer's workroom and stretching to around 160 meters.

A three-month police investigation concluded that Shin Hae Chul's death was a result of medical negligence where his assigned surgeon failed to heed the artist's complaints of pain after his synechtomy procedure. Shin Hae Chul told the doctor his pain and discomfort but these were waved off as par for the course after surgery. Unfortunately, these turned out to be symptoms of serious complications than then led to a heart attack, a coma and the singer's death all within the following week after his surgery.
