Raffaele Sollecito is throwing his ex-girlfriend, Amanda Knox, under the bus as he shattered her alibi in a new document filing on the eve of the murder case apppeal verdict.

According to Radar Online, Raffaele Sollecito's lawyers filed a 306-page thick document claiming that Amanda Kercher might not have always with him during Meredith Kercher's murder in Perugia in 2007.

"The defense intends to emphasize that Sollecito has always shown himself to be extraneous to the crime, and has always said that that night he did not move from his own home. However, he did not rule out that Knox could have gone out," the appeal said.

It also said that Raffaele Sollecito and Amanda Knox's 10-day romance wasn't too "deep" for him to plan murder with her.

"Raffaele Sollecito was not linked to Amanda Knox from long, deep emotional bonds that could have caused him to give his full and unconditional adhesion to a criminal act desired by others," the murder case appeal claimed.

There's also the question of motive and evidence. For one, the lawyers said that the other suspect in the killing, Rudy Guede, had issued a statement that Meredith Kercher had accused Amanda Knox of stealing her credit cards and money.

Then Raffaele Sollecito's DNA was never found at the crime scene, unlike Amanda Knox's.

Italy's highest appeal court will decide on Raffaele Sollecito and Amanda Knox's murder case appeal on March 25. She was convicted to 28 years in prison while he was handed a 25-year sentence for the killing of Meredith Kercher.

"The hearing in Rome could be the final word in a long running court battle that began in 2007 when Knox, a student from Seattle, was accused of killing her housemate, 21-year-old British student Meredith Kercher, in the Italian city of Perugia," said Los Angeles Times.

If found guilty in the murder case, Amanda Knox could be extradited back to Italy to serve out her sentence.
