YG Entertainment  Renews Contract With 2NE1 Leader CL

Last week saw one of the four 2NE1 resign with Korean entertainment agency, YG Entertainment. CL, the leader of 2NE1 and a solo artist, renewed her contracted with YG Entertainment ahead of her debut into the American music scene. The singer gained much traction after appearing at Ultra 2015 in Miami, alongside Skrillex, Justin Bieber, Diplo, and Diddy.

The renewal came a year before 2NE1's contracts are set to expire. It is expected that CL releases her American album in the first half of 2015, and 2NE1 make a group comeback in the second.  

Girls' Generation's "Catch Me If You Can" Comeback

SM Entertainment's top female act Girls' Generation released its first song of 2015, "Catch Me If You Can." The song is a Japanese release that was released in both Korean and Japanese, but the Girls' will promote only in Japan. Within three days of its release, the two music videos for "Catch Me If You Can" had been viewed over seven million times.

"Catch Me If You Can" became Girls' Generation's first release as an eight-member act, following the departure of former member Jessica Jung in 2014. Shortly after the release of "Catch Me If You Can," fans of Girls' Generation discovered a video clip revealing Jessica singing a line from the song, leading to speculation that she was meant to originally be included in the song.

Girl Group EXID's Comeback Information Leaked Prior To Release

After winning over South Korea in 2014 with its hit song, "Up & Down," five member girl group EXID planned its 2015 release "Oh Yeah." The song and video have since been released, but prior to the release Yedam Entertainment revealed that information including the album cover and track list had been leaked mid-transit of EXID's new albums. Although the song and music video were not distributed, Yedam Entertainment announced that it would take legal action against whomever released the information without authorization.
