Se7en Plans Return To Spotlight With Role In Musical 'Elisabeth'

There was a bit of speculation as to what Se7en's post-YG comeback will be, but now we know for certain: Se7en will be making a splashy return in the form of a musical!

The actor and singer has snagged a role in the Korean adaptation of Elisabeth.

Se7en updated his Instagram with a photo of himself in what looks like his character's costume in the musical. "#musical #elisabeth #tod #se7en," he wrote on the Instagram post.

EMK Musical Company has confirmed the casting of Se7en, also known under his real name Choi Dong Wook, which will begin its run on June 13. The actor will play the role of Der Tod, the fantasy character of Death, reports Allkpop.

"Not only did he sing and dance in the audition, but he prepared for the character from head to toe," said director Robert Yohanssen of Se7en. "He perfectly understood and performed all of the staff's requests during the audition. He showed his amazing passion for the production with his innate charm and sincerity. He was already the most suited for the role of death."

Se7en had been hinting at a possible comeback late last month when he celebrated his 12th anniversary since his debut, reports Soompi.

"Thank You. I'll have good news for you soon," he had said addressing followers on Instagram.

In his new musical photo, Se7en exudes a gothic vibe with his dark costume, cross earring, several metal rings and black-and-white Mohawk hair. The idol also wore dark make-up and a sinister expression to match his Death character.

"Amazing foto," "So cool!" fans said in reaction to the photo.

The Viennese musical Elisabeth depicts the life of titular heroine Empress Elisabeth of Austria, the wife of Emperor Franz Joseph I.

Elisabeth holds the distinction as the most successful German-language musical of all time, having been translated in seven languages and watched by more than 10 million spectators around the world.

It has not been revealed whether Se7en's acting comeback will be under a new agency. Se7en did not re-sign his contract with YG Entertainment, which expired after he was discharged from the military in December 2014.
