K-Pop Night Out Organizers Aim To Expand Global Reach Of Smaller Korean Record Labels

The Korea Creative Content Agency has begun to promote small-label artists as part of expanding K-Pop’s genre around the world.

In order to do so, the KCCA will be hosting a K-Pop Night Out event around the world in places such as France, Canada and Singapore.

“Are hope is to introduce audiences around the world the variety of Korean music,” said KOCCA president Song Sung-gak posted on Kpopherald on Sunday. “We want to support and help new and rising musicians who need help with funding.”

12 Korean bands have been chosen to perform at Canadian Music Week, Music Matters in Singapore and MIDEM in France.

These bands range from rap, electronic, reggae to rock and the audience will be able to experience a different side to Korean music.

These events will happen this summer starting with Canadian Music Week starting on Friday.

“So many different types of artists coexist in Korea,” said Kingston Rudieska leader Choi Chul-wook.

The group also stated that they’ve received Facebook messages from places such as South America asking for them to perform there.

Mainstream Korean groups that will also be attending Canadian Music Week include artists such as Verbal Jint, Dok2, Beenzino and The Quiett.
