IU's Self-Composed 'Heart' Beats Releases From Big Bang, SHINee, BoA On Korean Music Charts

A song from a Korean television took over Korean music charts on May 18.

"Heart," a self-composed song by Korean singer IU, achieved an all-kill on Korean music charts hours after being released. The song, from the soundtrack of Korean drama Producer, overtook songs by K-pop acts including Big Bang, INFINITE's Kim Sung Kyu, SHInee, Yoon Mi Rae, and BoA. IU co-composed "Heart" with Kim Jae Hwi and wrote all of the lyrics for the song.

"Heart" appeared in the number one spot on multiple Korean music charts on May 18. IU overtook songs from SHINee's new album "Odd" and Big Bang's "MADE" comeback, appearing in the top spot on Melon, Mnet, Genie, Naver Music, and others.

Big Bang's  "Loser" and "Bae Bae" appeared at the top of Korean music charts shortly after being released on May 1, while Kim Sung Kyu of INFINITE, soloist and MFBTY Yoon Mi Rae, and solist BoA's May releases also appeared in the top five. SHINee's "Odd" album was released the same day as IU's "Heart" and multiple songs also appeared within the top three spots on several Korean music charts.

Along with singing "Heart" for the soundtrack of Producer,  IU appears in the drama alongside Cha Tae Hyun, Kim Soo Hyun, and Gong Hyo Jin.

IU is one of the most popular young female vocalists in South Korea. In 2014, she won multiple aweards for being the best solo female singer in South Korea.

"Heart" is the first song that IU released as a single in 2015, although she also sung for the soundtrack of the drama Take Care of My Dad earlier in the year.
