Kimi Raikkonen News: Ferrari F1 Team Principal Gives Finnish Driver Qualifying 'Homework'

In Kimi Raikkonen news, Ferrari's Formula 1 team principal Maurizio Arrivebene claims the Finnish driver needs to improve his qualifying results, saying that he needs to do "homework."

The 35 year-old Ferrari driver called his qualifying run at the last race in Monaco a "disaster."

The news comes as no surprise to many; Autosport claims "the Finn has struggled to put together a tidy lap in qualifying this year and he is the only driver in 2015 to have not out-qualified his team-mate at least once."

Arrivebene shares the "problem with Kimi was qualifying."

"He caught some traffic, and there was a very big gap to the guys in front of him," he said.

"So if he improves in qualifying then he will have no problems in a race because Kimi in a race is super and he can do a good job," Arrivebene added.

"If I have to give him some homework then he has to write 100 times 'I have to be better in qualifying'."

Arrivabene also mentioned that his team has to do a lot of work if they want to keep up with the powerful Mercedes cars who have been in the front-row wall for the past six races this season.

"Mercedes are very quick in qualifying, and this is an indication for us on where to focus our attention for the future to work," Arrivabene said, adding "if you are going to start in a good position on the grid then the race is going to be easier."

"When you have air in front of you, and not other competitors, it's good for you and the tyres because with someone in front of you the consumption of the tyres goes down very fast," he went on to explain.

Kimi Raikkonen heads to the next race in Canada with 60 points; he currently stands in fourth in the Formula 1 World Championship.
