K-Pop Destinations: Hang Out With JYP Artists At The Street Cafe Bistro

Welcome to 'K-pop Destinations,' the series that helps readers travel across the world. We'll show you where hit shows and videos are filmed, where top performers are giving concerts, or where your favorite stars take their vacations. That way, the next time you take a vacation, you can make sure to incorporate a little K-pop travel into your getaway.

This week we're headed to Seoul with the goal of hitting a hotspot where the stars truly hang out. Sure, an idol sighting could happen anywhere in the Korean capital, but you'll significantly up your chances of seeing your favorite performer if you know the star hotspots.

A good start is The Street Cafe Bistro, a recently opened café in the Apgujeong neighborhood of Seoul. The restaurant's Facebook Timeline and Instagram page reads like a Who's Who of K-pop. Since opening its doors this spring, the bistro has hosted stars including 2PM, Nichkhun, GOT7, Jiyoon Park, SIXTEEN, and more. The idols come for events like book launches and intimate concerts, or just to catch a quick bite among fans.

Inside, the designers of the café have gone with a sleek and modern design rather than the shabby chic of so many other chill coffee houses. Still, the long tables, white furniture, and decorative flowers give the place a warm and inviting ambiance. Visitors can choose from a variety of drinks, like specialty teas, coffees, and juices, and can munch on typical café bites like sandwiches, desserts, and salads.

If you're traveling with friends that want to grab something to eat but don't want to spend hours in the café anxiously awaiting a K-pop star, don't worry. The Street is in the middle of the Apgujeong neighborhood, a trendy spot of town that's a little less congested than other parts of Seoul. It's easy to breeze down streets and pop in and our of stores and cafes here. The popular Apgujeong Rodeo Drive, home to upscale boutiques, foreign restaurants, and smaller entertainment venues and studios, is also nearby.

Emblazoned across one of The Street's walls are black block letters reading, 'Who did you meet on the street today?' If you're in Seoul, this is your chance to take that message to heart and truly meet the star of your dreams at The Street.
