Zygarde Confirmed For Pokemon Movie 2016 Following 'Hoopa & The Clash Of Ages' Pre-Premiere? Does It Foreshadow 'Pokemon Z,' 'Delta Emerald'?
Fans are gearing up for the premiere of this year's Pokemon movie, and a sneak peek of next year's film may have given us a hint of what's to come.
According to a report by Serebii, the Legendary Pokemon Zygarde was shown in a sneak peek following a pre-premiere of "Hoopa & the Clash of Ages" on Sunday. Due to be released the summer of 2016, this could be a sign that a follow-up to "Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y" is on the horizon.
"As of this time, this information just comes from second hand reports but with evidence that proves they attended the showing," wrote Serebii.
Longtime fans know that rumors of a "Pokemon Z," a sequel to "Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y" have been circulating since their release. With the release of Diancie and Hoopa with their accompanying movies, it's clear there's a lot more material planned and hidden in these games, as well as "Omega Ruby" and "Alpha Sapphire."
One such theory of how Zygarde could tie into new story for Kalos involves a Mega Evolution for Zygarde.
"Xerneas and Yveltal are both immune to Zygarde's main types," wrote CoolGlaceon on PokeJungle.
"What if in 'Pokemon Z' if Zygarde mega evolves, it gains an Ability which turns immunities into weaknesses much like how inverse battles work. I guess this is also backed up by the fact that the only place to have inverse battles is on Route 18 where Terminus Cave is located...where Zygarde is found."
This is not the first time rumors of a Zygarde Mega Evolution has surfaced.
"A mega evolution gives a Pokemon an increase in 100 to their total base stats. Zygarde has 600 base stats which is super low for a [Legendary Trio]. A mega would make Zygarde have a 700 base stat, tying it with Mega Tyranitar and Mega Garchomp and making it stronger than Xerneas and Yveltal," wrote HeavyMetalLamb.
"Its Pokedex also talks of how it will reveal its secret power when the ecosystem goes wrong, which I'm sure will be the plotline of the next game, and we manage to get ahold of Zygardenite which they will code into the next game of DLC expansion."
