Taylor Swift Vanity Fair Cover Story: Kanye West Friendship And Squad’s ‘Same Taste In Men’

Taylor Swift now calls Kanye West her friend. The "Bad Blood" singer revealed in her Vanity Fair cover story that she finally befriended the rapper six years after their MTV Video Music Awards encounter.

In the report, the "Bad Blood" singer shared music mogul Jay Z was instrumental in forging peace between them.

"I became friends with Jay Z, and I think it was important, for Jay Z, for Kanye and I to get along," she said. "And then Kanye and I both reached a place where he would say really nice things about my music and what I've accomplished, and I could ask him how his kid's doing."

Back in September 2009, MTV reported that the "Bad Blood" was receiving an award for Best Female Video at the Video Music Awards when West stormed the stage to cut her off and rant that Beyoncé should've won. They made up just last February during the Grammys as reported by Entertainment Tonight.

"I feel like I wasn't ready to be friends with [West] until I felt like he had some sort of respect for me, and he wasn't ready to be friends with me until he had some sort of respect for me-so it was the same issue, and we both reached the same place at the same time," Swift explained to Vanity Fair.

Being friends with everybody did not just end with Kanye West for Taylor Swift. As widely known, she has a squad of famous friends. Among them as cited by Mail Online in June were Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne, Martha Hunt and Kendall Jenner. She is also friends with Selena Gomez and Lena Dunham. According to the "Bad Blood" singer's Vanity Fair cover story, the friendship works even though some of them have the "same taste in men."

"We even have girls in our group who have dated the same people," she exclaimed. "It's almost like the sisterhood has such a higher place on the list of priorities for us. It's so much more important than some guy that it didn't work out with."

"When you've got this group of girls who need each other as much as we need each other, in this climate, when it's so hard for women to be understood and portrayed the right way in the media," she added. "Now more than ever we need to be good and kind to each other and not judge each other-and just because you have the same taste in men, we don't hold that against each other."
