Matthew McConaughey’s Wife Camila Alves Now A U.S. Citizen, Shows Off Family Pride!

Matthew McConaughey and wife Camila Alves did not let recent divorce rumors ruin their year and showed off their brood after the model and fashion designer finally naturalized as a US citizen.

As reported by Yahoo! Celebrity, Alves was accompanied by husband McConaughey and their children Levi, Vida and Livingston as she was awarded her US citizenship in Los Angeles on Tuesday. They were joined as well by John Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt, who just became a US citizen as well, according to Mail Online.

Alves even took to social media to express her joy over the latest development in her life.

"It is with great pride and honor that I am happy to say I now hold an American passport!" she posted on Instagram. I have so much respect and appreciation for this country."

Matthew McConaughey also showed how proud he was of wife Camila Alves. The couple has been married for three years now but was hit by divorce rumors just last month.

"Congratulations Camila on getting your US citizenship today -- another fellow and great American," he tweeted.

Alves has always known that she wanted America to be her home. As told in her biography in the Muxo website, the mother of three moved to the US at the age of 15 and the rest was history.

"I came to Los Angeles when I was 15 to visit my aunt, and never left," she wrote. "After working for 4 years cleaning houses and waiting tables, I not only learned the English language (I didn't speak a word upon arriving), but I knew I wanted to make America my home."

Camila Alves then made it as a model and fashion designer shortly. Come 2006, according to Hollywood Life, the Brazilian born model met Matthew McConaughey and they began their love story. Three children later, they got married in 2012. Last month though, the couple was hit by divorce rumors with various reports saying they've been having "nonstop fights" as the actor apparently wanted his wife to give more time to the family.
