Disneyland Celebrates Its 60th Anniversary! Theme Park Goes All-Out With Upgrades And Preparations!

Disneyland's 60th anniversary celebration is going full-blast.

According to CBS News, "the happiest place on earth" is purportedly adding extra sparkle to its otherwise lavish Diamond Celebration.

It appears that certain features of the theme park will be getting audio-visual upgrades and there will be modernized light displays to make the landmark attractions even more appealing to park goers and to add extra scare factor to thrill ride characters.

The source cited above reported that more than 1.5 million LED lights will be used to illuminate every angle of the Main Street parade, and the lights will be used on moving floats and glowing character costumes.

The lovable fairy Tinkerbell, as well as other performers, would apparently change the light colors with a wave of a wand through wireless infrared technology.

"She's able to tap at the float and cause the floats the come to life in a different fashion with different lighting looks," CNET learned from Mike Layman, technical director of Disney Creative Entertainment.

It looks like Disneyland is going all-out on its 60th anniversary celebration as there would supposedly be nightly "street-to-sky" fireworks display, with both explosions seen in the sky and as moving light projections on the park's noteworthy landmarks.

"The Matterhorn", one of Disneyland's main attraction, which opened in 1959, has been upgraded, too. It has been reported that it now has new set designs and an Abominable Snowman who looks and sounds scarier than before. Apparently, the snowman will now appear in several places along the ride's path, making the ride more exciting.

Jeff Shaver-Moskowitz, producer for Walt Disney Imagineering, told CBS News that one of the original ghosts in the "Haunted Mansion" would reappear.

"It's a mixture of using projection, lighting effects and some really cutting edge technology inside the animatronic itself," Shaver-Moskowitz added.

According to a report made by CBS San Diego, Disneyland's 60th anniversary celebrations started in May, which was opened with an all-night park event. Apparently, the event was well received by people that the park reached capacity and some had to be turned away at the gates.
