Theo James and Shailene Woodley have been romantically linked since “Divergent” premiered, but they have never been together. The reason why may be that Theo James is much too “cynical” for her, but not his girlfriend Ruth Kearney.

According to Australia Network, Theo James revealed that he comes from a cynical family.

“We’re a jokingly cynical family. I was 13 and I had written this really cheesy song that I wanted to sing. I sat him down and I had my guitar and I just opened my heart. I finished the song which was terrible, and he just burst out laughing,” he said.

“He still takes the piss out of me now, he calls it ‘Why?’ because it was all about why do I feel these things or something like that. You can’t take this stuff too seriously. If you start taking yourself or it too seriously I think it can be damaging.”

Theo James also rejects fame, possibly to stay with his long-term girlfriend Ruth Kearney. Looks like not even his “Divergent” costar Shailene Woodley can change his mind.

Seeing how Shailene Woodley also shuns fame as much as he does, this doesn’t surprise “Divergent” fans.

According to the Evening Standard, Theo James said that he doesn’t care for fame.

He said: “Some people embrace it, some people like it and props to them if it works for them. But it can be a bit difficult because at the end of the day all this other stuff is irrelevant — acting is my job. I’m still the same person so it hasn’t really changed me. It’s not like I go to trendy parties, that’s not particularly my thing.”

In fact, he may be engaged to his long-time girlfriend Ruth Kearney. Despite all the dating rumors surrounding him and “Divergent” co-star Shailene Woodley, it looks like Theo James has his eyes on one woman only.

According to Movie News Guide, “a news outlet reported that James and Kearney were spotted looking for engagement rings. James’ rep allegedly responded to the issue, but neither confirmed nor denied the rumor and simply said that he has no comment on his personal life.”

But “Divergent” star may still be thinking about the “Divergent” onset kiss he shared with Shailene Woodley. According to MTV, Theo James didn’t hold back when talking about his kiss with Shailene Woodley.

He said: “I just went at it hard, to be honest, because I thought that’s how she wanted it. I thought to assuage any awkwardness I would just go for it. She was kind of batting away my hands.”

Theo James and his girlfriend Ruth Kearney may actually have a lot to learn from Shailene Woodley and her relationship with her boyfriend Nahko Bear. Seeing how she can handle her relationship in the public sphere, Theo James can probably afford to learn a thing or two!
