Mary Kate And Ashley Olsen Respond To Lawsuit; Did They Really Overwork Their Interns?

Mary Kate and Ashely Olsen are currently in hot water.

In a report published by E! News Online, it was said that the company that the twins are running have been sued by interns that claim to be "overworked" and "underpaid."

What's more interesting, according to fans, is the fact that there are approximately 40 interns who backed up the complaint, all of which have been, and are still with the company.

The claim was reported by Page Six, where it was also added that a female named Shahista Lalani, who is a former design intern for the company, is the one leading the complaint. Lalani described her experience to be extreme as she was allegedly "doing the work of three interns" and conversing with her boss "all day, all night. E-mails at nighttime for the next day, like 10 p.m. at night."

Moreso, Lalani claims that Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's company made her put 50-hour weeks to her internship.

"Inputting data into spreadsheets, making tech sheets, running personal errands for paid employees, organizing materials, photocopying, sewing, pattern cutting, among other related duties," she describes her experience, as cited by E! News Online.

After the files were leaked, the company, Dualstar Entertainment Group, released an official statement, claiming that the accusations about how their company treats interns are completely false.

"As an initial matter, Dualstar is an organization that is committed to treating all individuals fairly and in accordance with all applicable laws," their statement read, according to the first source cited above. "The allegations in the complaint filed against Dualstar are groundless, and Dualstar will vigorously defend itself against plaintiff's claims in court, not before the media."

"Dualstar is confident that once the true facts of this case are revealed, the lawsuit will be dismissed in its entirety," the statement added about the issue Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's company is currently involved with.
