Girls' Generation member Kim Taeyeon is proving her individual popularity by topping music charts in not just Korea, but overseas as well.

Taeyeon's first solo album I, was released on Oct. 7, and promptly rose to the top of various real time music charts in South Korea.

But I is a hot album abroad as well. Within a day, the EP also ranked number one on iTunes charts in 12 countries. As of 8am KST on Oct. 7, Taeyeon's album was in the number one spot on the iTunes charts in Costa Rica, Brunei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Panama, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Her album also ranked in the top 10 for several other countries - second in Sweden, third in Mexico, fourth in Japan, fifth in Finland, New Zealand, and Portugal. I was seen in the number 10 spot on the U.S. iTunes chart as well.

Taeyeon's lead single "I" features hip-hop artist Verbal Jint and showcases her powerful vocals. The message of the song is about appreciating the world we live in and finding your place in it.

Taeyeon will kick off promotions for the single on Oct. 8 and will appear on all the major Korean network music shows this week.

She is also scheduled to hold her first solo concert entitled Taeyeon's Very Special Day as part of SM Entertainment's concert series brand The Agit. The concert is scheduled from Oct. 23-25 and Oct. 30-Nov. 1.
