'Batman V Superman' Star Henry Cavill Bags Role In Intense War Drama 'Sand Castle'

Henry Cavill has expressed his fears about being typecast for Superman, but his fears are clearly unfounded as he bags a dramatic role in "Sand Castle" following his turn as a spy in "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." The "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" star will be joined by Nicholas Hoult and Luke Evans in the war drama.

"The film is set in Iraq circa 2003 and is based on Roessner's experience as a machine gunner in Iraq's Sunni Triangle," said the synopsis. "The story centers on Matt Ocre (Hoult), who is part of a mission to repair a broken water system in the dangerous and unstable Iraqi village of Baqubah."

"While the people of Baghdad welcome the Americans as saviors, the villagers resist their presence and Matt and his unit must try to convince the community that they are part of the solution, not the problem in order to save the town and get out alive."

"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" star Henry Cavill, in a previous interview, said that playing Superman is a big honor.

"That said, professionally, there's always a worry that you might get typecast," he added. "But that all depends on how well you choose the movies in between."

"You can't live in fear of that. No matter what your profession is, you can spend your whole life worrying about what might happen or what could've happened."

In the film "Sand Castle" is written by Chris Roessner and directed by Fernando Coimbra.

Justin Nappi of Treehouse Pictures, the producer of "Sand Castle," said that he jumped on board the film right away when it landed on his table.

"It took little convincing for me to come on board to produce this extraordinary and gripping film which so accurately depicts the intricacies of real people in extreme circumstances," he said. "I am excited about our amazing lead cast who, in the hands of our masterful director Fernando, will deliver the most powerful performances of their careers."

"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice," headlined by Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck, will be released on March 25, 2016.
