TWICE Prove To Be Rookie Queens With 3 Million Views On Debut Music Video

Countless new K-pop acts join the scene each month, but one rookie girl group is making waves like few other rookies have managed to do in recent years.

JYP Entertainment's new girl group TWICE debuted on Wednesday with the single "Like Ooh-Ahh," and they're already gaining a lot of attention. Within four days of releasing their song, the music video had been viewed over 3 million times on YouTube and the song was appearing within the top 50 spots on Korean music charts.

TWICE's debut has been better received than any other girl group that debuted in 2015.

The success appears to be in part due to TWICE's label; they are the first girl group that JYP Entertainment has produced since miss A debuted in 2010. In addition, prior to debuting TWICE's members were introduced to the public through Mnet's competition survival reality show "Sixteen."

Within twelve hours of being revealed on YouTube, TWICE's music video had already been viewed over 1 million times.

In comparison, girl groups from other leading entertainment agencies that were introduced in the second half of 2015 have been received comparatively poorly.

Neither DSP Media's new girl group April, who debuted in August, or DIA, a new group from MBK Entertainment who debuted in September, have yet to see over 1 million views on their debut music videos.

TWICE is the second group that JYP Entertainment debuted in 2015. Idol band DAY6 debuted on Sept. 6 with the song "Congratulations."

In comparison, DAY6's music video for "Congratulations" has 3.7 million views over a month after being released, while TWICE's music video has 3.4 million views within five days of being released.

The nine-member girl group from JYP Entertainment is being heralded by Korean media outlets as the successor to JYP Entertainment's previously well-received girl groups, Wonder Girls and miss A.

"Like Ooh-Ahh" was produced by the team Black Eyed Pilsung, who produced miss A's hit song "Only You" earlier this year."

TWICE's debut EP, "The Story Begins," was released on Oct. 20.
