YG Entertainment's Newest Acts WINNER And iKON To Face Off With Back-To-Back Releases

WINNER is preparing for their comeback, following the success of the debut release, "2014 S/S," but they could face competition for their label mates, iKON. 

On October 29, OSEN reported that WINNER had returned from filming their latest music videos, in Sweden.

"WINNER filmed two music videos in Sweden, last week," said an official for YG Entertainment, in a statement published by OSEN. "We plan to release the music videos to [complete] a total of four songs." 

While OSEN noted the impending album, the representative for YG would not confirm the specific date of the comeback release. 

"An exact date has yet to be set," said the spokesperson for YG. 

The article went on to describe the accomplishments of WINNER, who emerged in 2014 as a strong rookie group, who genre-bending debut release was noted for its potential as the future of music at YG. 

"The five members participated as lyricists and composers," said Yang Hyun Suk, in regards to the hands-on relationship of the artists and their upcoming release. 

While OSEN focused on the upcoming album, TV Report examined the impact of the dueling comebacks involving iKON and WINNER. 

According to TV Report, the lauded five-member is currently concentrating on both international and domestic activities, while working on their new album. 

"But the comeback of WINNER may strangely overlap the comeback schedule of iKON," said the writer for TV Report. "Just two days ago, the agency modified the comeback calendar of iKON, the brother group of WINNER at YG Entertainment."  

While the release date for WINNER has yet to be announced, the report published by OSEN hinted at an overlap with iKON that would occur within a 30 day period. 

Back-to-back promotional activities for both acts bears significance due to their participation in the YG music competition, "WIN: Who Is Next?" The 2013 reality show provided viewers with unique insight into the emergence of Team A, who emerged as the victorious from the musical battle, and Team B, who were placed back into competition for the 2014 program, "Mix & Match." 

iKON debuted on October 4 with their half album release, "Welcome Back." "Welcome Back" yielded several gems, including the chart-topper, "My Type."  While the second half of their album was previously scheduled for on November 2, YG announced a change to their upcoming release. 

On October 28, YG Entertainment reported that two addition songs would premiere on November 2, but the full album would not be released until December 14.
