K-Pop Takes Over Tunisia: 'All About Korea' Event Held In Tunis [VIDEO]

This past weekend the small north African country of Tunisia was taken over by Korean pop culture.

On April 14 the "All About Korea" event brought the hallyu wave to the shores of the arabic country of Tunisia.

The event celebrated many aspects of Korean culture including history, food, and pop music.

"All About Korea" was organized by the country's largest Korean culture fan club, TOKE (Tunisia's Organization of Korean Cultural Exchange). The event was sponsored not only by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), but also by the South Korean Embassy's Tunisian outpost.

Over 300 guests attended the diverse program which included a K-Pop dance contest, a tae-kwon-do demonstration, a fashion show of hanboks (the traditional garments of Korea), and a wide range of kimchi and other culinary treats.

At the end of the day, the crowd joined together to celebrate the successful event by dancing to Psy's international hit, and arguably the most recognizable Korean-language song in the world, "Gangnam Style."

The cultural exchange club who played host to the "Korean Day" event has even gotten attention from the South Korean press, having been featured in several news articles about their events.

The groups seeks to increase cultural understanding between the two countries by not only putting on events, but also by promoting Korean films in local cinemas, offering language programs, and increasing the K-Pop fan base throughout the nation.
