R2-D2 Fridge Looks Like It Came Out Of A Movie, The Price Tag Is Mindblowing

R2-D2 Fridge is something out of the film itself.

The “Star Wars” hype is definitely on a roll as more and more retailers create more merchandise leading up to “The Force Awakens” worldwide release. The lovable droid companion to C-3PO, R2-D2, just got transformed into a product.

The “Star Wars” R2-D2 Fridge is from Haier Asia. According to IGN, the special mini-fridge will feature a rotating head, sound effects and remote controls. It’s practically the closest thing to having the lovable droid in real life.

A video was released on AQUA’s Youtube Channel and previewed the product and it’s functions.

The R2-D2 fridge may be the perfect addition to any fans’ collection, but it comes with a hefty price tag. TechRadar reported that the Haier product costs 998,000 Japanese yen, roughly $8,200, and doesn’t include the import fees, shipping fees and tax.

For those who do not know who or what R2-D2 is, he is a robot character from the “Star Wars” film franchise that was created by George Lucas. He is a major character in the films and supports the Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker, Princess Leia and Obi-Wan Kenobi along with droid companion C-3PO.

While he has appeared in all of the six original “Star Wars” films, the droid will be making its way back to the big screen with the upcoming film “The Force Awakens.”

R2-D2 was designed by the art of Ralph McQuarrie, co-developed by John Stars and built by Tony Dyson.
