#FreeKeshaNow Goes Viral To Support Kesha, Dr. Luke Lawsuit Amidst Rape Allegations

After being away from the limelight and the recording studio, Kesha has put her career on the line in order to step away from music producer Dr. Luke. And the public is rallying behind her.

On Friday, Kesha's lawyer Mark Geragos reportedly sought a court injunction which would allow the pop star to record new music without Dr. Luke or her record label. The former has been accused by Kesha of sexual assault and drugging her using GHB.

"The letters in response indicated both Sony and Dr. Luke believe the exclusivity clauses remain in effect, they will not agree to refrain from enforcement, and Sony specifically will not work with Kesha unless she agrees to work with Kemosabe and Dr. Luke's company, KMI," wrote Geragos according to The Cut.

"Kesha now faces an abysmal decision: work with her alleged abuser or idly and passively wait as her career tick-tocks away. She is precluded from working in perpetuity because the term of her contract can only be satisfied if she records three more albums. Kesha needs the Court's assistance."

Now, with both Sony and Dr. Luke seemingly trying to dissolve Kesha's career, social media has come in support of the singer's desire to be separate from her record label and alleged abuser. Over the weekend the hashtag #FreeKeshaNow began trending online.

"People wonder why women don't report rape and abuse," wrote Yvonne Emilie Thalker on Facebook.

"I was never a fan of Kesha's music. But this isn't about her music. This should sadden anyone who isn't a psychopath. This is why so many women and men do not come forward with their abuse and assaults. Because they could lose everything and because they won't be believed. And this goes for any industry, not just music."

Originally touted as Dr. Luke's protégé, Kesha has worked exclusively with Dr. Luke and has not released new material since 2013.
