EXO Take 'Star Wars' Collab Overseas With Japanese Sneak Peek Teaser

EXO is definitely lighting up the month of December!

The K-pop boy band plans to release a Japanese version of their Star Wars: The Force Awakens promo song "Lightsaber."

A 60-second teaser was revealed Dec. 9 through the official Avex Group YouTube channel. The single is set to be released on Dec 18. The teaser features the same premise at the Korean teaser, but is now layered with impressive Japanese vocals from members Chen and D.O. and a powerful rap verse from Chanyeol.

EXO included the Korean and Chinese versions of "Lightsaber" on their recently released Sing for You EP.

Fans praised EXO’s adaptability to be able to transfer the same amount of charisma into the song despite the difference in language. Ahead of the full release, fans were already leaving comments such as “How does Kyungsoo sound good in every language,” “Whether it’s Korean or Japanese, it still sounds epic,” and “Chanyeol’s rap will remain legendary even if this will be translated in another language.”

“Lightsaber” is a collaboration project between EXO and Disney and is intended to attract younger audiences from around Asia to the latest installment of Hollywood's successful Star Wars franchise.
