Girls' Generation Reaches New Milestone as 'The Boys' Reach Over 150 Million Hits on YouTube!

The iconic k-pop group Girls' Generation had once again reached a new milestone in their career as their music video for the song 'The Boys' hits over 150 million views on their YouTube channel.

Now if you think that's nothing as other k-pop groups have already done the same feat before, well, you should know that Girls' Generation's music videos for 'Gee' and 'I Got a Boy' already have 170 million hits and if you add this latest achievement, the highly successful girl group is no doubt the only k-pop group to have three music videos to hit over 150 million views, Allkpop reports.

According to Soompi, the girls have not even done any major group promotions but still, as evidenced by this latest achievement, Girls' Generation (or SNSD) is still a powerful presence in the Korean music industry. In fact, The Boys is a 2011 song and yet it is still in demand. It is also the song that signaled the turning point from which they ventured towards the western music market.

While The Boys had received mixed reviews, it still won numerous music show program awards and had also taken Girls' Generations to several overseas shows such as The Late Show With David Letterman,' 'Le Grand Journal,' and 'Live with Michael and Kelly.' Furthermore, the song broke into several international music charts like Spain, the US and France.

Girls' Generation is a highly respected idol group in South Korea and is credited as one of the first female groups to top the music charts and compete in an industry primarily dominated by male artists. Their success paved the way for other idol groups, specifically girl groups. Not only that, the group is also credited as one of the major initiators for the Korean Wave (Hallyu) and spreading the k-pop influence all over Asia along with fellow SM Entertainment boy group, Super Junior.
