Here's a recap of what you missed which will be summarized into the top 5 scenes from the series starring Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun.

HIGHLIGHTS

1. Dam Ryung learned that Sim Chung can speak

As the new mayor, Dam Ryung (Lee Min Ho in ancient Joseon) lighted several lanterns. He noticed that one of the lanterns went astray so he followed it. Then to his surprise, it led him to Sim Chung. He asked the mermaid a series of questions until Sim Chung finally speaks. Dam Ryung was baffled upon hearing the voice of the mermaid for the first time. The children seemed to notice that their mayor is missing so they went looking for him and this signalled Dam Ryung to conclude his conversation with the mermaid. He then asked if they can still meet, and Sim Chung mysteriously answers "just light up some lanterns if you want us to meet and that will be the signal. I'll be there."

2. Joon Jae returning to Sim Chung

As seen on episode 1, Joon Jae left Sim Chung at the mall after getting what he wanted from her, the jade bracelet. He even said that he hates leaving without saying goodbye. It was supposed to be their last meeting but he pitied Sim Chung as she got cold from waiting and the sudden rain. Again, he brought back Sim Chung and started to interrogate her if she can remember anything, but as usual, to no avail.

3. Sim Chung's comedic acts

Any fan of the show won't miss this for the whole world. Just like the first episode, this is one of the most anticipated part in every episode. In episode 2, it started when Joon Jae handed her a coffee. She imitated Joon Jae on cooling her hot coffee off and when she tasted the coffee she didn't like it at first. But because she's thirsty, she started gulping the entire thing in one big slurp. This was followed by Sim Chung's crazy antics as she got amazed by the hotel card. She tried removing it and the lights went off. She tried putting it back on, and so does the lights. She repeatedly did this until Joon Jae went outside the bathroom to stop the madness. Another crazy thing that she did is she got amazed by Joon Jae's laptop. She ended up watching the shows all night leaving her black eyebags. Hint, hint, she stayed up all night watching a movie by So Ji Sub. Sim Chung has good tastes, isn't it?

4. Joon Jae found out that Sim Chung can actually speak

In sync with their traditional counterparts, Joon Jae also found out that Sim Chung can speak in a very hilarious way. They were trying to hide away from a group of bad men who are all looking for Joon Jae, the conman and then they stumbled upon an old friend who pretends to be a part of a missionary. In exchange for some money to head back to Seoul, Joon Jae agreed to help out in scamming the church goers and he pretended as Brother Noah with his wife who he described as someone who is in trauma after a bad accident causing her not to speak and lose some screws. As if in command, Sim Chung started blurting the words as seen in the screen capture above. Joon Jae just pretended that it was a miracle to hear his wife's voice after a long time. Thankfully, the churchgoers belived him.

5. Joon Jae and Sim Chung's first kiss

Last but not the least, of course their first kiss in the series is one of the highlights of this episode. The kiss happened after they jumped towards the sea as a means of escape from the group of bad men who were about to shoot them ala firing squad. Although Joon Jae admitted that he has fear of heights and drowning, Sim Chung encouraged him and lo and behold, they jumped in no time. This also became the epilogue of the episode.
