TWICE breaks two sales records with their second album 'TWICEcoaster: Lane 1

JYP Entertainment girl group TWICE has become the best selling Korean artist throughout 2016. It breaks records in the album sales in two music charts.

TWICE broke sales records in Gaon and Hanteo music charts according to Korea Herald. Their latest EP “TWICEcoaster: Lane 1” is recorded as the fastest selling album of all time by a girl group. Since its release on Oct. 24, in less that two months the album has sold than 220,000 copies.

Moreover, single from the album “TT” and its music video has also made another records in Youtube as the fastest K-pop video to reach 50 million views on YouTube. The M/V of “TT” took only 21 days to reach 50 million views, breaking the records of their previous M/V “Cheer Up” with 57 days.

This Christmas, TWICE released a Christmas edition of their “TWICEcoaster: Lane 1” album. The pre-order for the album has began since Monday, Dec.12. According to Seoul News Daily, the number of pre-order for the special edition has reached 150,000 requests.


The group was formed through a reality show in the Mnet TV “Sixteen” in February to May 2015. The program competed sixteen girls to become the new girl group for JYP Entertainment. Afterward, the seven members of the group were selected, they are Chaeyoung, Jeongyeon, Nayeon, Sana, Jihyo, Mina and Dahyun.

Two other members were added later, Momo and Tzuyu to make a nine-member girl group. In October 2015, they debuted with the mini-album “The Story Begins” and title track "Like OOH-AHH."

In a short time, TWICE has become the hottest girl group in KPop landscape and their popularity continue to soar. Their second album “TWICEcoaster: Lane 1” was released in October this year and their commercial success continue. Their single “TT” is a catchy dance tune with a cheerful dance move.
