Born on March 29, 1991, Bae Joo-Hyun is famous by her stage name Irene. She is a South Korean singer, television host, and actress. Irene is a member of South Korean girl group Red Velvet.

Irene was born in Daegu, South Korea and attended Haknam High School in Daegu. In 2009 she joined S.M. Entertainment and got training for five years.

Irene was introduced as a member of S.M. Entertainment's pre-debut group, S.M. Rookies in 2013. She also appeared in the music video of labelmate Henry's song "1-4-3".
