Fake Gunshots Fired at Cannes Film Festival; Christoph Waltz Adds, ""I'm fine, there's nothing to worry about."

Friday, at the Cannes Film Festival, gunshots allegedly interrupted an interview with actors Christoph Waltz and Daniel Auteuil and had many running for safety.

The actors were being interviewed on French TV show "Le Grand Journal" on a set located by the beach, when out of nowhere, the sound of gunshots sent the audience into panic and Christoph Waltz and Daniel Auteuil were rushed offstage by security, according to video of the show.

"A man produced a gun. I think it was a pistol, and he fired, but luckily for me they were blanks. Then he shouted he had a grenade, and again luckily for me there was no grenade . . . The police tackled him to the ground." Said Waltz in an interview according to the New York Post. "

Waltz added. "I'm fine, there's nothing to worry about."

According to several news accounts and eyewitnesses near the city's Martinez Hotel, a man brandishing a gun and another suspicious object appeared near a booth where jury members Waltz and Auteuil were speaking to Le Grand Journal, a program that broadcasts nightly from a seaside location in front of the hotel according to the Los Angeles Times.

The bullets were blank and no one was injured according to the French TV outlet Canal+.

Police arrived within minutes to the scene and reprimanded the suspect, however there are no reports for a motive or on the background of the suspect. Reports say they found a "dummy grenade" and a knife on the suspect.

Cannes Film Festival is the largest yearly film festival and is being held from May 15 to May 26 of this year.

The gunshot scare happened just days after a million dollars worth of jewelry was stolen by robbers who allegedly ripped a safe from the wall of a hotel room near the Cannes Film Festival.
